Mo, our first introduction to the world
of pets, you were a gift to our nine year old daughter
who longed for a kitty! We named you Eskimo ("Mo")
because you arrived on Alaska Airlines and we met you
at the airport! You had the thick, solid, coat of a
cat that belonged to the snow and your eyes told a thousand
tales! You taught our 3 young children about love for
animals, and finally, a lesson in death. We will miss
you and remember you always!

Dear Fay-Fay:
I asked the artist to draw a picture of life.
With his pen he drew a bubble, floating on the edge
of the sea.
We will miss you always.
With love,
Your Family |

You came in to my life on December 17th and left me
on February 3rd. I will miss you. You were so sweet
and loving and even though our time together was brief...it
will last the remainder of my lifetime. Thank
you for being here to love during such a special
time. I am so sorry you got sick and died so horribly.
I am thankful it came so suddenly so you did not have
to suffer any further and I know you are a healthy
baby kitty again.
I love you, pretty girl!

Buster was our sweet little shaded silver with the deepest blue eyes.
Those eyes held so much promise for a wonderful life ahead. Just four
months into his young life, he was diagnosed with FIP. And then he
was gone.
We remember him greeting us every morning with his rumbling purr, and
then growling at his food as he vigorously ate his breakfast! That
summer, he loved spending time with us outside on our deck beneath
the shade of the umbrella. He was our joy...our "summer breeze."
It has been over seven years since we lost Buster. But our grief for
him has been renewed with the recent FIP diagnosis of our 5-month-old
kitten named Gabriel. He has had a reprieve of sorts as a result of
our vet draining fluid from his chest, followed by a steroid shot.
Twice he has "bounced back" from labored breathing and a generally
depressed state after this treatment. His frequent seizures all but
stopped after the first steroid injection. But it seems to last only
a few weeks before symptoms reappear. For now, Gabriel is a happy and
active kitten who loves cheese, enjoys short outings exploring the
backyard on his leash and (of all things), car rides! He appears to
be enjoying his life. And we will love him and enjoy his life with
him as long as he is happy.
Buster and Gabriel were born in two different catteries, more than a
hundred miles and seven years apart. This awful disease knows no
boundary, and does not respect even the most conscientious breeders
or households. Our hearts go out to all of those who have lost
precious members of their families to FIP and who have posted the
loving memorials on this web site.

Gabriel was our happy little "blue-silver" Persian kitten. On his
stronger days, he would run and play, and sound a delightful,
high-pitched trill as he was chasing our other two adult cats.
We learned he had FIP when he was 4 months old, just one month after
he came home to live with us. We believe our vet helped prolong his
life by draining fluid from his chest and providing steroid shots. He
really seemed to bounce back after the first shot - it was almost
like he wasn't sick. But Gabriel sadly lost his battle with the
disease at six months of age.
After we learned Gabriel was sick, we decided we were going to focus
on making the remainder of his life as interesting as possible for
him. He loved going outside for walks with us in the backyard. He
always seemed sad when we put on our coats to go anywhere, so we
started taking him with us on short car rides, and he loved it! He
would stand up on my lap and look out the windshield at the world
whizzing by, wide-eyed and purring the whole time. This is how we
will remember him.
Many thanks to Melody Amundson for allowing all of us who have lost
precious members of our families to FIP to share our thoughts on this
site.

filled our hearts with joy. You made us smile every

In the words of William Blake, "We are put on earth for a little space,
that we may learn to bear the beams of love." Our sweet baby Georgie
was with us for only a short time, but the "beams of love" he shined
on us
will light our lives forever.
Goodnight sweet Georgie, goodnight,
goodnight.

Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the infinite peace to you, baby Georgie.

Our sweet little boy, Luke, was with
us for much too short a time. He had a rough start in life. He came
from a feral colony that was humanely trapped, and Luke and his
two lirrermates, Leia and Anakin, came to live with us when they
were very young. Luke died just five days after a very likely diagnosis
of FIP. I pray that my other cats do not get this tragic disease
and that this disease can be eradicated forever.

Konani, you were only a part of our family for three months.
They were months so bright, none that follow will ever be the same.
You were pretty and smart
That's the hardest thing
Never seeing you become the great cat you would have been
Your sister misses you, we miss you.
We are devastated and we will go on, but we will never get over our loss.
We love you.
